Implementation and training guide (Active Workpapers)

To provide an implementation and training guide for Active Workpapers for firms with between 1 and 10 users.

Overview: By the end of this guide, you will be able to successfully configure various systems and users, and direct users to the appropriate training guides.

Please refer to the Glossary for definitions of key terms used in this article.


Implementation

Steps to be completed by the firms Active owner or admin user.

System configuration

  1. Owner/admin user within the firm to log into the Active Platform: Click here

  2. Establish a connection to your firms practice management system.

    For information regarding the different practice management systems available for integration, see below.


    1. For firms not using any of the above practice management systems, reach out to your Account Manager to discuss next steps.

  3. Establish a connection to your firms document management system.

    For information regarding the different document management systems available for integration, see below.

  4. Establish a connection to GovReports (if applicable) for tax lodgement, by following the support article: How to set up and use the Active - GovReports integration.

  5. Establish your tax agent connection to the ATO within Active, following the support article: ​How to set up the ATO connection & register Business Fitness as a digital service provider with the ATO.

  6. If the owner/admin user wishes to customise the Active Platform to ensure a standardised solution is developed for the firm, please refer to the below material:

Training Centre

This is a free, self-paced learning course to assist owners/admin users with understanding how to use the Admin Centre within Active Workpapers to customise the firms Platform.

Support Centre

This site assists owners/admin users with providing step-by-step guides in relation to the customisation of Active Workpapers & the Active Platform.

User configuration

  1. Navigate to the Admin Centre and license users appropriately to Active Workpapers following the support article: How to set up users and manage licenses.

  2. For users who have not taken part in your firms trial of Active Workpapers, please ensure that they have installed the Excel add-in. This will allow users to use the product in both the web, and Excel. To install the add-in for Active Workpapers, please see the steps in the following support article: ​How to install the Active Workpapers add-in.


Training

Refer to the below table for the various training materials available. It is recommended that users view these materials in order as shown in the table.
