Overview: Report fields pull information from the Active Ledger file into your report templates, so one template works for every entity. A field can be as simple as the report title or the entity name, or it can switch wording on and off depending on the entity.
Please refer to the Glossary for definitions of key terms used in this article.
Note before reading: Wrap each field in two sets of curly braces: {{Title}}. Use a dot to reach a field inside another one: {{Office.Address.State}}.
Field names are case sensitive. {{Office.Abn}} works, but {{Office.ABN}} doesn't. A field the report doesn't recognise is printed exactly as you typed it, braces included, so a misspelt field is easy to spot in a preview.
Accessing report fields
You can use report fields anywhere an administrator creates or edits report content in the Ledger & Reporting Admin Centre. That includes Page Templates, the Header Template and Notes, as well as titles, headers and footers.
Below is an example of how fields are used in a paragraph in the Compilation Report template to return names and dates.

Entity types
{{Entity.Type.Name}} returns one of: Company, Trust (also used for unit and discretionary trusts), Estate, Partnership, Limited Partnership, Limited Liability Partnership, Individual, Superannuation Fund, Pension Fund, Association, Society, Charitable Company, or Entity.
To show wording for one type only, use the True/False type fields in an {{#if}} tag:
Code | True for |
| Companies and charitable companies |
| Companies, charitable companies, limited partnerships and LLPs |
| All trusts, including unit and discretionary trusts |
| Unit trusts |
| Discretionary trusts |
| Partnerships, limited partnerships and LLPs |
| Limited partnerships |
| LLPs |
| Individuals |
| Superannuation funds |
| Pension funds |
| Estates |
| Associations |
| Societies |
| Charitable companies |
Older fields: {{Entity.EntityType}}, {{Entity.IsCompany}}, {{Entity.IsTrust}} and {{Entity.IsAssociation}} still work in existing templates.
For new content, use: {{Entity.Type.Name}}, {{Entity.Type.Company}}, {{Entity.Type.Trust}} and {{Entity.Type.Association}}.
Responsible persons and owners
Field name | Code | Returns | Example |
Entity Responsible |
| Text | Director, Directors, Trustee, Trustees |

Entity Responsible Plural |
| True/False | True when the entity has more than one responsible party, e.g. "Directors" |
More Than One Signatory |
| True/False | True when more than one responsible person is signing |
Single Corporate Trustee |
| True/False | True when the only responsible party is a company, e.g. a corporate trustee |
Corporate Trustee Name |
| Text | ABC Nominees Pty Ltd |
Entity Owner |
| Text | Shareholders, Beneficiaries, Members, Partners |
Client Signatory |
| Text | John Smith |
Client Signatory (parts) |
| Text |
|
{{ClientSignatory}} is the primary responsible person nominated on the report template. It is blank when no signatory is selected.
To list every responsible person, use an {{#each}} tag:
{{#each Entity.ResponsibleSigningPersons}}{{FirstName}} {{LastName}}<br />{{/each}}List | Contains |
| Active responsible persons |
| All responsible persons, including inactive |
| Active responsible persons who are signing |
| Governing persons, including inactive |
| Non-governing persons, including inactive |
You can't pick one person out of a list by number (for example Entity.ResponsiblePersons.1). Use {{#each}}, or {{ClientSignatory}} for the primary signatory.

| 30 June 2026 |
| 30 June 2026 |

Tip: Firm administrators can add content fields to Report Page Templates so users can enter their own values, including dates. See screenshots below:
Content fields
Content fields that an administrator adds to a page template are available as {{CustomField.<FieldName>...}}, where <FieldName> is the field's Field Name.
Code | Returns |
| The value entered. Numbers can be formatted, e.g. |
| True/False for a toggle field |
| The value of a date field, formatted |
Always use .Date, not .Value, when formatting a date field.
Financial fields
Field name | Code |
Gross Profit |
|
Profit from Operations |
|
EBITDA |
|
EBIT |
|
Profit Before Tax |
|
Income Tax |
|
Net Profit |
|
Other Comprehensive Income |
|
Total Comprehensive Income |
|
Total Assets |
|
Total Liabilities |
|
Total Equity |
|
Net Current Assets |
|
Retained Earnings |
|
Distributions |
|
Tax Rate |
|
Profits are positive and losses are negative.
These fields use the primary column of the report. If the chart has no subtotal for a field, the next subtotal down is used. For example, with no Gross Profit subtotal, {{Financial.GrossProfit}} returns Profit from Operations, then EBITDA, EBIT, Profit Before Tax and finally Net Profit.
Formatting
Currency with two decimals:
{{Financial.NetProfit:C2}}Plain number with no decimals:
{{Financial.NetProfit:N0}}Excel-style positive;negative;zero:
{{Financial.NetProfit:$#,##0;($#,##0);-}}
Other columns (prior period)
Every financial field has an Array version that returns the value for a specific column. Columns are numbered from 1, left to right: .1 is the first column (usually the current period) and .2 is the second (usually the prior period).
{{Financial.NetProfitArray.2:C2}}returns net profit from the second column.{{#if Financial.NetProfitArray.2}}Text if there is a second column{{/if}}
Column header fields
Field name | Code |
Header Text (1st row) |
|
Period Text (2nd row) |
|
Sign Text (3rd row) |
|
Example:
{{Financial.NetProfit:C0}}{{#if Financial.NetProfitArray.2}} ({{Financial.ColumnPeriodTextArray.2}}: {{Financial.NetProfitArray.2:C0}}){{/if}}produces "$15,000 (2025: $12,000)".
Reporting tags
If statements
{{#if}} shows text when a field is true or has a value. A field counts as false when it is blank, zero, False, an empty list, or not recognised.
{{#if Entity.ResponsiblePlural}}are{{#else}}is{{/if}}returns "are" when true and "is" when false.{{#if Entity.ABN}}ABN {{Entity.ABN}}{{/if}}shows the ABN when there is one, and nothing otherwise.{{#if Entity.Type.Company}}...{{#elif Entity.Type.Trust}}...{{#else}}...{{/if}}checks each condition in turn.
Advanced conditions (ifx)
{{#ifx}} combines several fields or compares numbers. Close it with {{/ifx}}, and use {{#elifx}} and {{#elsex}} for the other branches.
Tag | Shows the text when |
| All the fields are true |
| Any of the fields is true |
| The field is false (with more than one field: none of them is true) |
| A is greater than 0 |
| A is greater than or equal to 0 |
| A is less than 0 |
| A is less than or equal to 0 |
| A equals 0 |
| A does not equal 0 |
With several fields, or an Array field, a comparison is only true when every value passes.
Example:
{{#ifx 'gt:0' Financial.NetProfit}}a profit{{#elifx 'lt:0' Financial.NetProfit}}a loss{{#elsex}}a break-even result{{/ifx}}Lists
{{#each}} repeats its content for every item in a list. See Responsible persons and owners.
Case conversion
{{#lowercase Entity.Type.Name}}converts text to lowercase, e.g. "company".{{#uppercase Entity.Name}}converts text to uppercase.
