Linking your Microsoft account

To assist users in navigating the Active Platform to link their Microsoft account.

Updated over a week ago

Overview: It is essential that users connect their Microsoft accounts with Business Fitness so they are able to open documents within the Active Platform in Excel. Without connecting this, users are unable to do so.

Please refer to the Glossary for definitions of key terms used in this article.

Linking your Microsoft account

1. To connect your Microsoft account, login to the Active Platform at my.businessfitness.com

2. Click on the Wp icon.

This will prompt you to link your Microsoft account.

3. Select Link Microsoft Account and follow the prompts.

Once connected successfully, you will be able to proceed with using the Active Platform normally.

Note: If you are only licensed for Active Ledger and encounter the 'Link Microsoft Account' popup, please either ignore and close it or click 'Later'.

This prompt is only relevant for the Active Workpapers module, which links your Active account with your SharePoint instance (used to host Workpapers and documents). Since this doesn't apply to Active Ledger, it can be safely disregarded.

Troubleshooting linking your Microsoft account

If you're experiencing issues linking your Microsoft account, please follow the steps below:

  1. Fully log out of both the Active Platform and Office.com, including all associated email accounts

  2. Retry after accessing the Active Platform in incognito/private browsing mode.

Your Active Platform email must match your Microsoft account email when linking with Microsoft.

If you've mistakenly linked a personal Microsoft email or the wrong account, this can cause access issues. To reset the 'Link Microsoft Account' prompt:

  • Ask your Active Platform admin to:

    • Go to Admin Centre and click Users & License Management

    • Navigate to the Users tab and select the affected user

    • Click Product Versions and select Recreate User, then Sync SharePoint

This will reset your access to the Active SharePoint tenant.

Afterward, ensure you:

  • Log out of Excel, Office.com, and the Active Platform completely

  • Then, sign back in and you will see the 'Link with Microsoft' popup again. Ensure you log into Microsoft with your work email this time which matches your Active Platform email.
