Overview: You can now quickly add a link in one Excel binder to a worksheet in another Excel binder. Once linked, you can then preview that external binder's worksheet in the current binder's Active add-in.
Insert link to worksheets in other Excel binders
To begin, open the target binder in Excel. Next, right-click on the cell where you want to insert a link that references a worksheet from another binder. From the dropdown menu, select Active Workpapers → Add Worksheet Link.
In the add-in panel, choose the binder and worksheet you wish to link to.
Once the link is inserted, clicking on it will open a preview of the linked worksheet in the add-in panel for quick and easy reference. You can click on the options on the top left of the preview to navigate to that external binder in Excel or Excel Online.
Copy in the External sheet manually into your current binder
If you do not wish to preview the sheet but would rather like to have the sheet inserted in your current binder, please follow the steps below:
1. Open both binders in Excel.
2. Right-click the worksheet you want to copy and select "Move or Copy..." from the context menu:
3. In the "Move or Copy" dialog:
- Select the destination workbook from the "To book:" dropdown
- Choose where to place the sheet in "Before sheet:" section
- Make sure to check "Create a copy" at the bottom
4. After copying, click "Add Record" in the side pane and select "Link to existing sheet" to integrate the copied worksheet in the new binder.
Note: Once you complete this step, the action should add the named ranges to the relevant cells. If you are linking worksheets between Personal ITR binders, you may need to refresh the workpaper for the data to transfer to the B01 Summary worksheet.
