Overview: When opening an Active Workpapers binder, you may receive the following error message:
"Microsoft 365 has been configured to prevent individual acquisition and execution of Office Store Add-ins."
Cause
This error may be caused by Group Policy settings or other restrictions in Excel that prevent the Active Workpapers add-in from functioning properly. It can also occur if the add-in fails to load correctly from the Excel Addin Store, requiring a refresh.
Resolution
1. If the Active Workpapers Add-in was deployed firm-wide by your Microsoft 365 Admin:
In Excel, go to Home > Add-ins > More Add-ins.
Click Admin Managed.
Select Refresh at the top right.
Click into the Active Workpapers Add-in and select Add.
If your addin is not deployed at a firm level see the steps below to troubleshoot this issue.
2. If the add-in is not deployed at a firm level:
a) Ensure Excel is not running in Safe Mode:
Open Excel and navigate to File > Options > Trust Centre > ActiveX Settings.
Untick the Safe Mode option.
Close and reopen Excel, then try opening the binder again. The issue should be resolved.
b) If the problem persists, contact your IT team to follow the below steps in the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre, starting with Step 1.
