How to troubleshoot Error: "Microsoft 365 has been configured to prevent individual acquisition and execution of Office Store Add-ins"

Overview: This article explains how to troubleshoot the error: "Microsoft 365 has been configured to prevent individual acquisition and execution of Office Store Add-ins" when opening an Active Workpapers binder.


Cause

This error may be caused by Group Policy settings or other restrictions in Excel preventing the Active Workpapers add-in from functioning properly.


Resolution

a) Ensure that Excel is not running in Safe Mode. To check this:

  1. Open Excel and navigate to File > Options > Trust Centre > ActiveX Settings.

  2. Untick the Safe Mode option.

  3. Close and reopen Excel, then try opening the binder again. The issue with the add-in should be resolved.


b) If the issue persists, please ask your IT team to follow the steps below in the Microsoft 365 Admin Centre, starting with Step 1.
