Overview: Active Ledger enables users to generate various standard reports or customise their own report templates. This guide provides an overview of how to create a report to include both division and trading account profit and loss pages.
For more information on creating a firm standard report, see the support article β How to customise reports. New firm defaults can only be created by a user with administrator privileges.
Please refer to the Glossary for definitions of key terms used in this article.
Note: Currently Active Ledger is unable to run a report with a profit & loss statement that summarises the net results of both divisions and trading accounts. The reason for this is accounts can be allocated to both a trading account and division, and therefore if a report is run to include the net result, there is a risk that these account balances will be duplicated.
Creating a new report
For a step-by-step guide on how to create a report, see the support article: How to create and manage reports.
Adding both division and trading account profit & loss pages
To start, scroll to the Pages section of the report editor.
There will only be one Profit and Loss page inserted by default. To add another, click + Add Page and select Profit and Loss.
Repeat this step to add a third Profit and Loss page to the report.
Once these have been inserted, feel free to adjust the position of these pages so the three Profit and Loss pages are sitting underneath each other. You can do this by clicking on the hamburger menu to the left of the page title and dragging to the applicable spot, as we have below.
For the first Profit and Loss page, leave this one as is. No filtering is required for this one.
For the second Profit and Loss page, click Customise to the right of the page and select Separate Pages Only (By Trading Account) under 'Trading Account / Division Options'.
For the third Profit and Loss page, click Customise to the right of the page and select Separate Pages Only (By Division) under 'Trading Account / Division Options'.
Once you have done this, click Save on the report, and then Generate Report.
This report will generate with the full profit & loss, as well as the profit & loss pages for the various divisions and the profit & loss pages for the various trading accounts, as below.
