Overview: Users may occasionally encounter an account tagged as Inactive in the Trial Balance screen of their Active Workpapers Binder, as shown below:
Cause
An account can be marked as inactive for the following reasons:
β
1- If the account was deleted or archived in the underlying accounting source file.
For example, if you are connected to a Xero source and the account was deleted or archived in the underlying Xero file, Active will automatically place an "Inactive" tag next to this account to notify you. To fix this, please inspect the chart of accounts in the live Xero file to look for any deleted or archived accounts.
Note: This scenario will only occur if the account was deleted after the trial balance/chart was imported into the binder. For new binders, deleted or archived accounts will not appear.
OR
β
2- If a binder is connected to an Active Ledger file as its source and has already imported a chart of accounts from Active Ledger, and subsequently if the account in Active Ledger's chart is moved to a different place in the chart (e.g. move to a different header or classification) or merged into another account.
To accommodate this change, Active will import the account under its new placement while marking the old placement as inactive and nullifying its amount.
β
Any workpapers attached to the old inactive account will remain for the user to manually link to the new account as shown below:
