Overview: Gravatar is a globally recognized avatar service that allows you to create a profile image that follows you across different platforms. In the Active Platform, your Gravatar avatar appears in your user profile and can be customized to represent you or your organization professionally. Please refer to the Glossary for definitions of key terms used in this article.
Access your Gravatar settings
To manage your avatar in the Active Platform, you'll need to access your Gravatar settings through your user profile.
Click on your Profile initial in the top right corner of the Active Platform
Select Manage Gravatar
Create or enable your Gravatar account
Creating a new Gravatar account
If you don't have a Gravatar account:
Follow the Gravatar setup wizard that appears after clicking Manage Gravatar
Complete the registration process with your email address
Verify your email to activate your account
Enabling a previously disabled account
If you previously disabled your Gravatar account:
Click Enable Account when prompted
Confirm your choice in the dialog box
Upload or change your avatar
Navigate to the Avatars section
Once logged into Gravatar, click on Avatars in the left sidebar menu
Upload a new avatar
Click the Upload button in the Avatars section
Select your image file from your computer
Choose from supported formats:
PNG or JPEG for photos
SVG for vector graphics (ideal for logos)
Note: Your new avatar will synchronize with the Active Platform within 5 minutes.
View your updated profile
Once uploaded, your avatar will appear in:
Your user profile
All areas of the Active Platform where your profile is displayed
Delete your avatar
Remove avatar from Gravatar
To delete your avatar from the Active Platform:
Navigate to the Avatars section in Gravatar
Hover over your avatar image
Click the three dots (⋯) menu that appears
Select Delete from the dropdown options
Note: The avatar deletion will synchronize with the Active Platform within 5-10 minutes. During this time, your previous avatar may still be visible.
Disable your Gravatar account
Important preparation step
WARNING: You must delete your avatar BEFORE disabling your Gravatar account. If you disable your account without deleting the avatar first, your previous avatar will continue to display in the Active Platform even after account deletion.
Steps to disable your account
Click on your profile name in the top right corner of Gravatar
Select Account settings from the dropdown menu
Navigate to Security & data in the left sidebar
Scroll down to find the Disable account section
Click the Disable button
Read the disclaimer carefully
Click Disable Account to confirm
Note: Disabling your account will immediately prevent all access to your Gravatar profile. Any Gravatar data that isn't shared with your WordPress.com account will be permanently deleted after 30 days unless you re-enable your account within this timeframe.
