Overview: Admin users in the Active Platform can set up and manage cabinets for their firm using the Admin Centre. This article guides users through accessing the Admin Centre, adding a new cabinet, and editing or deleting existing cabinets. Each firm must have at least one cabinet.

Accessing the Admin Centre
Navigate to the Active Platform home page. Click on your name icon, then click Admin Centre.
Click on Cabinets under the Documents banner.
Adding a cabinet
To add a new cabinet, click New Cabinet.
A pop-up will appear where you can enter the details for the cabinet.
Name: The name used to identify the cabinet across the firm.
Area: Determines where documents assigned to this cabinet will appear in Active Documents. Select from three options:
Client is for documents linked to a specific client, such as supporting documents, correspondence, or workpaper files.
Internal is for firm-wide documents that are not filed to a specific client, such as permanent files or internal reference documents.
Template is reserved for templates only. Cabinets in this area are only accessible when creating or managing templates.
Set as default cabinet: When this checkbox is ticked, this cabinet will be pre-selected when users file or create a new document for the specified Area.
Default cabinet for emails: When this checkbox is ticked, this cabinet is pre-selected when users file emails from the Outlook add-in. Only one cabinet can be set as the default for emails at a time.
Permanent cabinet: When this checkbox is ticked, documents in this cabinet will appear in search results regardless of date filters applied.
Require financial year: When this checkbox is ticked, users must select a financial year when filing a document to this cabinet.
Tip: When the Require financial year checkbox is ticked, the option Pre-select financial year will appear as a dropdown. Select a financial year to pre-populate the financial year when filing documents to this cabinet.
This can be overridden at the point of filing if needed.
Once completed, click Add Cabinet to save the cabinet in Active.
Editing or deleting a cabinet
To update or delete an existing cabinet, click on an existing cabinet in the list.
A pop-up will appear where you can make changes to the existing information applied for the cabinet.
To delete the cabinet, click the Delete button.
Follow the prompts to delete the cabinet by clicking Yes, I understand the consequences in the dialog box.
Tip: You cannot delete a cabinet that has documents filed to it. Ensure you move any existing documents to another cabinet before deleting.
