Overview: Users may encounter the error "Unable to find Retained Earnings or Current Year Earnings accounts in MYOB chart." when loading or importing trial balance data into a dataset from an MYOB source.

Cause

This error occurs because the imported trial balance journal from the MYOB file is not balanced.

Resolution

  1. Run a Balance Sheet report in the relevant MYOB file for the same dates as the dataset.

  2. Check whether the balance sheet balances (Net Assets must always equal Total Equity).

here is an example of the balance sheet being out of balance

  3. If the balance sheet is out of balance, this is a known MYOB software bug. Please contact MYOB support and request them to run the "Out of Balance Balance Sheet" script to correct the imbalance in the MYOB file.

  4. Once corrected, try loading the data again in Active.
