Overview: Users may encounter the following error when adding a supporting document:

TypeError: Cannot read properties of null (reading 'filter')


Cause

This error indicates that the system is unable to access the document or hyperlink provided—either due to restricted access, unsupported format, or an issue with the file itself.


Resolution

A) If you are uploading or dragging a document into the window and you get the error:

  1. Check File Permissions

    • Ensure the document is not password protected or restricted by permissions.

  2. Use a Supported File Format

    • Supported formats include: .pdf, .xlsx, .docx, .txt, .jpeg, .jpg, etc.

  3. If uploading an email use .msg format

    • Ensure to right click on the email and save it as an .msg file first then try uploading it to Active

  4. Verify File Accessibility

    • Open the file manually to confirm it is not corrupted and can be accessed without issue. Alternatively, reexport or recreate the document again and upload to Active.

  5. Check File Name

    • Avoid using irregular characters in the file name, such as apostrophes (') or special symbols. e.g.
